Musculoskeletal
Disease is the most common cause of chronic disorder causing significant
immobility and mortality. Each year over 15,000 patients suffering from
rheumatic diseases are treated at St George's Healthcare NHS Trust.
As
a well established teaching hospital with an excellent international reputation
it is vital that those suffering from the pain and discomfort of arthritis
and related diseases benefit from the best service available. To address
this, St George's University of London and St George's Healthcare NHS
Trust have integrated the provision of musculoskeletal treatment, research
and education into the Hotung Centre.
The
wide spectrum of musculoskeletal specialists providing this service include
Rheumatologists, Orthopaedic Surgeons, Physiotherapists, Occupational
Therapists and Radiologists. They will enable the Hotung Centre to focus
upon a constellation of musculoskeletal problems ranging from life threatening
inflammatory diseases affecting the brain and kidneys to podiatry, nutrition
and complementary therapy advice.
This synergism of expertise enables the provision of even higher levels
of excellence in musculoskeletal treatment, research and education.
